It is a breach of Data Protection Act and as such I would report it to IG office. In itself its a minor event. However the IG office are more interested that the company have put in place a system by which this type of fault can be detected and stopped before it happens. If the company do have a history of this then yes they will be fined. If its the first time then they will be asked to provide the evidence that they have a system in place. Just yesterday one of the banks got a fine in the 10s of millions.

There are many, many people out there in the wider world whose experience of Robinson Way has been anything but pleasant.

    Try Googling.

You would be doing them a considerable favour if you referred this to the Information Commissioner.

Not necessarily so. Having nothing more to add to a thread has never stopped you from appearing in it.

Yep, report them, this is a serious breach of the DPA. They are a debt collector at the end of the day and they have sent you other peoples sensitive data! On the flip side, where did your data go to?

I will hazard a guess that if you do actually owe them any monies that you will find it quite easy to have it written off or substantially reduced as a "gesture of goodwill" by them ;)

That was one of the polite suggestions. Robinson Way is, of course, a most ethical and highly reputable company.

Which is why I told the OP earlier to go report it to the IC now.

    ;)
