Viz have been doing money-saving tips for years. How about this one, from their Top Tips column a few years ago:

Save money on expensive tea bags! Just collect the empty packets from your After Eights, fill them with loose tea, and using a pin, make 2000 little perforations in each bag. Seal the tops with 'sellotape and hey presto! Tea bags!
  • Reminds me of my granda years ago - walking past a large mental hospital he declared theyre not mad theyre fed, clothed and looked after we're the mad ones lol
Happy with any wins this year :A
  • I'd forgotten about Viz top tips - I've just googled a few...

    - avoid paying for the increase in the cost of petrol by getting out & pushing your car for the last 1/2 mile of every trip

    - get around the VAT increase by only buying books, food, caravans and drugs.

    - allow your toddlers to experience a day in the life of George Osbourne by placing them in charge of your personal finances.
  • Save yourself £3/day by running behind the bus, Or £10 by running behind a taxi.
