Don't know how long you take but my chap don't hang about and doesn't compromise on quality either. Day 1 - Rip out old suite and tiles along with old airing cupboard. Day 2 - Rip out floor tiles and install new corner bath and over bath shower. Day 3 - Install new toilet and hand basin and also lay new floor and start tiling. Day 4 - Finish tiling and leave to set. Day 5 - Grout and paint and put up new cabinets. Now there is no way that corners have been cut. What else is he expected to do? He just doesn't mess around like most people and doesn't even have a dinner break etc. Job's a good 'un!
7-10 days
We always go overboard on prep work, New dot and dabbed walls back to brick, 25mm plywood floor back to joists
Plaster ceiling, 4 coats of paint, 4 coats on new wood work, silicone tooled on all expansion joints(floor/wall tile join,Ceiling/wall tile join)
See no tanking mentioned, No lighting and extraction
The grout wont be dry and hes applying silicone......Bodge if even i seen it
A good prepped bathroom will take 7-10 days and will last 25+years, yours will last about a 5th of that
Day 1, Remove 60+ bags of rubble, usually down 3 flights of stairs and into a skip. Floor back to joists, walls back to brick.....I dont hang about either!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Well after listening to these comments it started me thinking so I checked online and I found that most reviews/reports say 4/5/6 days is pretty norm for refitting a bathroom. In fact there was a report of 2 days but that's just silly. No it appears that around 5 days is fairly standard. We're had a spotlight unit so that took all of about 30 mins just removing the old fitting and installing the new one. No need to plaster ceiling as it was done with a council grant 12 months ago, similarly extractor fan was also installed at the same time. No need to take my walls back to brick as it was all replastered by council grant recently so it was just a quick skim required and off to go. Bloke arrives 8am sharp and leaves around 8pm and in all fairness doesn't stop throughout the day. Excellent service!0

Spot on Gareth19 for what was done - impressed your chap worked until 8 pm most days. Andyhop - surely each job takes the amount of time for what is required? Gareth's didn't require all that you suggested and yet you indicated he wouldn't get a decent job. Now I'm beginning to wonder (no offence intended) if some of the quotes I've been given are vastly inflated based on scaremongering. I'm beginning to suspect so as they are quoting for jobs that simply do not require to be done. Will get further quotes.0

Thats why i said 7-10 days(average 2mx3m), Some have taken 3 weeks
No 2 bathrooms are the same
As for Gareths bathroom ,He is employing someone willing to work hard manual labour working 12hrs for £100....Man will be out of business within months so good luck with your warranty!! Would be better off pushing trolleys at Asda....Does he even have insurance??
Often when i quote for work no one other installers mention the prep work, Just as the walls have been freshly skimmed does not make them good for tiling. Current trends of large format tiles, heavy porcs and stone tiles means that plastered walls are not suitable for the increased weights. Floor tiling, BS states minimum 15mm overboard - Huge step. Remove the floor and fit 22/25mm - No step and very strong. Each task has many ways of making it suitable, Some will pick the cheapest,Some with choose the easiest, some fit only what they know to work based on experience and theory, and some simply dont care!!.
I find that most customers wouldnt know a good job from a bad until you point the obvious out!!.

Thought that would be pretty reasonable. We had our kitchen completely renovated & that included plasterboarding the walls & ceiling, re-routing gas supply, tiling & fitting all the kitchen cabinets (including fridge/freezer & washing machine). That took exactly 5 days & they did a 1st class job. They worked non stop & didn't disappear and work on other jobs. We're having the same team renovated our bathroom & hope that will take slightly less time because it's a smaller area.0
