Store loyalty cards for charities
I don't subscribe to store loyalty cards but would "donate" the points accrued to charities if at supermarket checkouts they gave you the option. So when they ask you do you have a "nectar" card you could say no but I'd like the points to go on your "charity" card. Each store could have a dedicated "charity" card that's divvied up to a variety of charities. What would be the best way to go about suggesting this? To approach the charities themselves? The supermarkets (with a cc to the press)? Or Government? I can't see the supermarkets being that open to it as they're not getting the trade off of personal info but I'm sure there are many people who would want to donate their "points". Any suggestions of how to take this forward gratefully received.

I doubt supermarkets would take it up. They're not gaining any info i.e personal info from any one.
Also it would be giving money away.0 -

The supermarkets could still have personal loyalty cards and use them for marketing / data analysis, but just accumulate your points and send them to a charity on your behalf.
However they would probably only set the scheme up for a limited number of major charities, so smaller charities would lose out. But they could set up a scheme where you could choose one of several dozen main charities.
It would save the supermarket the cost of posting you your vouchers every few months too.
However, would charities actually have need of thousands of pounds of vouchers - because supermarkets wouldn't give the same value in cash that could be spent elsewhere.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Alternatively why not sign up for a loyalty card and then when you have enough points / vouchers whatever, buy something with said points and donate it to a local branch when they're having a raffle or as a prize for a fun raising event?
