iPod 4 and existing Intempo Dock

I bought a new iPod 4 (touch) for my daughter for Christmas and its so much better than my 3rd Gen Touch. I planned to buy one myself if it was compatible with my Intempo dock (RDI) But as I thought its not. It neither charges nor plays on my dock and its such a great one than I am loathed to get rid of it.

So is there any software/modification that can be done to enable the new iPod to work on the dock or have Apple lost another sale of their upgraded iPod?

apple did change some stuff in the universal dock port on newer ipod/iphone models, I'm not sure on the specifics but it did break compatibility with some docks both with sound and charging.

as I said only some docks were affected so the only way to be sure is to try a new ipod on that dock to see if it works, since you have and it doesnt you would need a new dock/speaker system.

Edit: looking further into it it turns out that one reason is the placement of the dock on the ipod not allowing connection to the dock, did yours actually plug into the dock and not work perhaps it is just a physical problem

Thank you for the reply. Yes it pushed in fine but then didn't work or charge at all, strange really as the charger for the new iPod charges tge old one and vice versa.
