Rosie, at my work, the colleagues get the broken multipacks of yoghurt, crisps etc. I get 6 Walkers Baked for 50p as the outer bag was ripped or sometimes, we get about 20 loose packets at the bottom of the box with no sign of any ripped outer bags.
Also if anything such as a pizza has the bb date missing - and the others in the case have theirs, we can't sell that to customers and get that for 40p. A colleague gets a pen and writes the bb date by hand.0 -
I'm glad to hear to hear that Middy, for you and your colleagues that is. I think it's awful when you hear of people doing such a demanding job, and not being allowed to get the bargains too.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

I guess it really does vary:
Two Tescos near me will not reduce anything at all before 8.30pm and it wont go to final reductions before 9.30pm.
Sainsburys near me, one reduces things as soon as the day begins (I wonder if they start the night before) and then nothing until 8pm when it gets reduced to between 25-30%. At 9pm further reductions and at 10pm final reductions.
These are stores in London. If I were to try at 8pm I'd be wasting my time, it must be the managers choice.0 -
i go to my local iceland as soon as they open. evry morning, their meat reductions are fantastic, and they are only first thing in the morning. get there ten mins after opening and its all gone. last week, a very determined lady shoved me out of the way to get her hands on a chicken that i had my eye on, chicken, large, reduced to £2, mince beef, a pound for a large tray. minced pork, 50p a tray, beef, stewing, braising, £1 a tray. the reductions are very good but as i say, get there as they open.
the frozen stuff isnt reduced THAT often, though there is sometimes the 'everything in this freezer is 50p' reductions.0 -
At work today, we had flower bulbs and indoor flower kits such as Iris for 1p per BOX! They were £2.99 and one of the indoor plants was a fiver. As my friend wasn't in today and in tomorrow, a colleague and I put some in the back for her to look at as she and her DH like to garden. It does say to plant them in Oct-Dec. Doesn't really matter if they are planted 10 days late, as she can enjoy them later on.0

Before Christmas, we had a lot of short dated party food in the fresh section dated 22/23 Dec and they were reduced from 21st to 35-50p each. I bought some and had them for tea.0

My local Iceland has a new manager who is far, far too good at his job ! I could guarantee to get my weekly meat supply reduced significantly but they are obviously getting far better at ordering what they actually need so reductions are rare. I guess it's better than the shop going out of business but it's left my freezer a little bare
