Hi,
Has anyone used the Dutch 'Schrivjver Systeem' for curing damp, where specially constructed air bricks are inserted into the property via exterior walls (thereby preventing the need for interior work)?
Apparently the company Holland Damp Proofing also adopts the method.
Success stories from experience - on the system or the Holland company - as well as problems, 'failures' etc. would be really helpful.
Thanks.

Hi Suzkin,
The system has no British Standard as a means of damp control and can only be inserted to external walls (i.e. if you have a damp problem to internal / party walls they will not install the system to such areas). The system will not resolve the associated problems of dampness (i.e. things such as contaminated damp degrading plaster, timber decay and corrosion). I have acted as an expert witness for a home owner who they felt having the system installed had in their case been a complete waste of time and money. Please contact me privately if you wish for any more details, kindest regards David Aldred Independent damp and timber surveyor.0 -
Thanks very much, David.
I'll be PM-ing you shortly re. my thermal insulation post a while back (it's only a brief question, but important, nevertheless!).
Thanks again for responding. :-)
