recommended back account

I'm finally going to bite the bullet and change my bank account. I'm currently with HSBC but i'm getting very disappointed and !!!!ed off with them.

I was thinking of Natwest or Nationwide current accounts, just wondered if you lot could recommended a good one? i've heard to avoid the big ones like; HSBC, Lloyds, Barclays

Ive no complaints with First Direct. Its might be part of HSBC, but its service is superb and as far as I known run completely seperately (although you can use the counter services at HSBC branches)

Its telephone call centres are in the UK. Excellent customer service.

Yes First Direct is meant to be good and Nationwide does not charge you for transactions abroad.
