Getting best deal on multiple kitchen appliances

Hi, going to be buying all the appliances (Bosch) for our new kitchen in the next few days. I've priced these all up at the best prices shown on google shopping and kelkoo and it comes to just under £3000.

Just wandering if anyone knows which retailers are most keen to price match and offer a bulk discount? Also what might be possible as a bulk discount?

deals4u and appliance warehouse came out the cheapest for most items, but boots had some the cheaper but other items a lot more expensive. Will probably start with Boots to see if they can beat the most competitive prices but was hoping someone else might offer their own experience.

Thanks

I used these people back in November and they were fantastic. http://www.appliancecity.co.uk/ I bought an entire kitchen of Smeg appliances, they were the cheapest on everything except one thing through all the shopbots but if you find anything cheaper, they will price match, which they did. They also advertise discounts for larger purchases - I asked the salesperson and he just knocked another £150 off a £2100 purchase.

Items were delivered in about 2 weeks IIRC. I got a measurement wrong on the hob, my fault and they exchanged it with no quibbles whatsoever for me. Exchange was within the week. i had to pay the delivery but I could have gone there and exchanged it for nothing.

Have you asked any independant local shops? When I was buying my hob, oven and extractor I priced everything online. I'd already been to our local shop to price them and then I phoned (rather than ask face to face - i'm chicken, and my husband was too embarrassed!) if I could get a discount. I told them i'd rather buy locally but there was quite a bit of difference in price. They said they had overheads that online shops don't but I still got about £120 off. It was still slightly more expensive than getting it online, but i've bought loads of stuff from this shop over the years, and their after sales service is really good and I was happy to pay the bit extra for that.

I used http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk/ for a Bosch dishwasher and they came up the cheapest plus you can choose the delivery day and slot yourself. Maybe price up online then give them a call to see if you can get a further discount.
  • I've also used Appliancecity like Doozergirl and found them to be pretty good (and cheap) despite a lengthy delay from Siemens themselves

However for the past two appliances last year I used our local independent who did indeed price match themeselves on the internet without me having to ask! The advantage is they are two minutes up the road if there are any problems. Other big advantage was knowledgeable staff rather than just salespeople

I would also consider going to a independent and seeing of they have any end of range stuiff to a similar spec to what you are after. Comes with full warranty and not marked but loads cheaper. If you are in SE England happy to recommend Stellisons

PS Don't forget VAT rise 4/1/11

Thanks, I hadn't seen appliancecity, all the items I wanted didn't have a price on their website so maybe it prevented them being displayed when I was checking the comparison sites. Anyway all the Bosch items said call for best price, which I did, and they have matched all thes best prices I found online. I can get the full order about £10 less if I buy from a few of different places, but that's not worth the hassle. Next best price was appliance warehouse, but still £15 more.

Tried appliancesonline and they reduced their web prices, but still £90 more expensive than appliance city. Also got an offer of some insurance I read about in another post on this site. The sales pitch involved telling me that these appliances I'm about to spend £3k on wont last 4 years so I should pay £5 a month per item and they will replace them for free. Find it quite funny that they are telling you that they are about to sell you shoddy appliances. I had the same in Dixons the last time I bought white goods. They were Hotpoint and lasted 7 years were still going when we moved out and left them for the new owner.

Hence why you try a decent independent shop who will more likely tell you the truth about how things are built these days- and you were lucky with your Hotpoints ;) !

Ukwhiotegoods website also has a good forum frequented by white goods repair people who also give their opinions (buy an ISE they will probably say but out of your budget by the sounds!)

Look at the terms of some of your bank accounts too. Whenever I pay for any white goods in full with either my bank cc or debit card I get up to 3yrs guarantee with it. For example, if the manufacturer gives you a 1yr guarantee, the bank will brink it up to 3yrs. If I get a 2yr guarantee with my goods, the bank give me an extra year on top of that.

RBS, but my son has similar perks with the Bank of Scotland. My account is a Royalties Gold and you do pay a monthly fee for it, but it also covers things like some insurances and breakdown cover.
