Hi

not sure this is the right place for this but...

I own a old church which I converted into a house, it has a 1.5 acer field. If I fence of a section on the field for a garden. Can I put a static caravan away from the house in the field, it's about 35 meters away from the house or would it have to be located right next to the house?

thanks for any help

Not sure static caravans fall within the planning requirements but the best people to ask are... the Local Planning Dept.

As a rule of thumb ...

If it's extra accommodation to the main house, so a sunroom, or occasional bedroom for kids/visitors, then you probably won't need PP.

If it's to be used as self-contained accommodation, for somebody to live in (permanently or as a holiday let), you'd need PP. Even if you were doing self-build you'd still need PP for living in it full-time on a temporary basis (they tend to give 2 years as a rule of thumb).

If you indicated what your actual intentions are, how you're thinking, then people could help by being more specific.
  • Turning a field into a garden may well require planning permission from agricultural to garden ancillary to a dwelling

Stationing a static caravan e.g. as a store for garden equipment probably wouldn't need permission but any occupation of it either ancillary to the dwelling or as a separate dwelling, would.
