Best place for carpets ?

I am looking to buy some carpet.

Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to do this ?

For example, where is it best to buy from and should I get them to fit it as well ?

I don't want cheap carpet but good quality carpet at a great price.

Any help is appreciated.

  • The best place for a carpets is on the floor, however some people hang them on the wall.
They can come from anywhere these days but kidderminster has loadsa cheap carpet shops and there are still some manufacturers there.
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!
  • ive just had my stairs and landing carpeted, i went to all the major stores such as carpet right , allied etc. in the end i found a local quite big carpet supplier who offered me a great deal and offered to beat the prices of all the other major stores, very good quality carpet not the £4.99 stuff either. So i sugjest you find a local supplier, you'll usually find that they do a better job too , being local they want to keep thier good reputation up, as they get most of their business from word of mouth
  • Dependant on where you live, I would say.
We have just bought new bedroom carpets and after trawling around all the carpet shops...Allied..Carpet City etc, have found that it was cheaper to go to a carpet wharehouse and buy a whole roll.
Was only going to carpet one of the bedrooms, but bought a whole roll, for the same price.
They cut it into room sized pieces and are storing it in their wharehouse until we have finished decorating all of the rooms.
We are employing their own carpet fitter (in his spare time) to fit the carpets....cash in hand.
He is charging about £40.00 per room....much cheaper than any of the big carpet shops charge.
Have a look in your Yellow pages, both for carpet wharhouses and independant carpet fitters.
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!
  • I agree, check out your local independant carpet shop. They'll have a much larger range of products to offer you and should have the expertise which many of the larger shops don't! Explain what you are looking for and your budget. They should be able to point you in the right direction and be competitive on price. I hope you get a decent carpet fitter - many aren't and don't put enough tension into the carpet when fitting - ask for recommendations! It's a sad fact that most people these days can't tell whether their carpet has been fitted correctly or not!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
