Halifax Credit Card Payment help

Hey guys,
I've been a long time reader and only just registered because im being given the run around by halifax over what I would have hoped was a relatively minor issue.
Basically over the Christmas period I was a bit of an idiot and forgot to schedule my credit card payment to go out in time for the 31st, only realising on Christmas Day that I had not sent the payment.
I called halifax to see what the best way to deal with it was, and at first was told there was nothing I could do except make a payment online and hope for the best.
I wasn't too confident or happy at that answer so I made another call and was told if I paid in branch with cash, and asked the cashier to email a verification team that they payment would be processed faster.
I made the payment in Branch, advised the cashier what I had been told, only to be advised that I should actually call up the payments guys again and advise that I had made a payment in branch in cash and ask them to apply it directly as all they could do in branch was "take the payment"
Upon getting home, I called up again only to be told that it IS up to the guys in branch to e-mail in etc, but that they should do this anyway and the payment should go through fine.
In all honesty, its not going to destroy me financially etc if this doesn't go through, but I would prefer it did as I had issues getting credit in my early 20's as my dad was military and we moved houses a lot. I've finally built myself up a good and till now flawless crdit history and I would be very upset if one stupid mistake (on my part) and getting the run around from halifax caused a massive set back to it.
Does anyone have any experience of this so called procedure from them, or any advise on exactly what I can do in this situation to try and save this blip from going on my record?
Thanks very much for your time and help.

Do you bank with the halifax ? the halifax have the faster payment scheme (within 2 hours or something). I made a payment to Barclays through my online banking and it went out of my account within minutes and was credited to barclays the next day. thought my payment was going to be late as I also forgot the due date with it being christmas.0

I do bank with halifax as well and set up an online payment to go through the first available day (today) and it has left my account, but does not show up on my online CC statement yet.
I looked into the faster payment scheme and it appears the sort code that the payments go to is not part of the scheme yet.
The only other thing worth saying is my last payment left my account on 29th November and show on the previous statement as being received the 29th November.
I assume it either did go through quickly, or was backdated. So in the case of backdating, would that mean im in the clear, or will Halifax still veiw it as a missed payment if it not processed and showing in the aco!!!! by the 31st.0 -

Why not avoid issues such as these in future and set up a direct debit?0 -

It was never really a problem before because im usually on the ball with my finances.
Hopefully you are right about when it shows up, and that way I scrape past this and learn a valuable lesson about keeping an eye on things.
Im in the process of setting up a direct debit for the minimum amount, so that way I'll avoid this happening in future. Thanks for the advice.0 -
Just a quick update: As of 4am this morning the payment has appeared on my online credit card statement so crisis averted. I know its not a huge issue like some of the others but I get paranoid and stressed about things easily lol.
Since I hope this thread will appear for others in forum and google searches in future ill just reiterate 2 main points.
1. Online payments from Halifax seem to go through in about 24 hours as my payment was scheduled to leave on 29th and arrived today 30th around 3-4am.
2. Despite the above, if you are in my position dont take the chance and follow the advice given by YorkshireBoy and set up a direct debit for the minimum payment. I have online banking with halifax and it took me about 2 minutes and 4 or so mouse clicks. Which is basicaly 0 effort for a huge future peace of mind!
Thanks for the replies to this thread, hopefully I can take my own knowledge and be useful elsewhere on the site0 -
Halifax credit cards are only available to residents of the UK who also have a UK bank account. You must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
You can apply for most of our cards now. Just click the Apply Now link on the card page that interests you.
Your introductory rate commences on the date that your Halifax Credit Card account is opened. The length of your introductory rate depends on the card you have. Please see the conditions for your card for the length of the introductory period. Introductory rates do not apply to cards which offer a flat rate.
Repayments cover could give you peace of mind if you cannot make your credit card repayments due to disability (accident & sickness), unemployment or hospitalization. It could also pay off any outstanding balance in the event you become a full-time career, if you are diagnosed with a critical illness or, in the worst case, if you die.0
