A couple of years ago we went on a family holiday (2 adults & 1 daughter) with one of the major tour operations to Turkey - We stayed just outside Olez Deniz. The hotel was rated as a 4 star plus and was superb - away from the beech, slightly secluded, great food and lots of shaded areas. We are looking to go back to Turkey this summer (half board\all inclusive) but unsure about where to go - interested in recommendations both in terms of location and hotels. We have a budget of £2,800 for 3 of us. :T

we went to turkey a few summers back and stayed in the barut lara beach hotel, it was a great hotel, it is on a strip with other hotels and not much around it, antalya was not far and there were plenty of trips to go on - if you want a nice hotel then do look at the barut chain, we were very happy with the place we stayed at0

Was at the Barut Lara back in July/Aug could not fault the hotel . but as poe.tuesday postedit is on a strip with other hotels and not much around it
Thats understating it. Off to Belek this year to try out the Susesi
Perhaps more info of what else you want/demand from a hotel/area0 -
Have a look on the Antalya forum on Trip Advisor. There is quite a bit of recent stuff about the Barut Lara, plus loads of other stuff you might want to know about Antalya.0

I love Turkey but all-inclusive doesn't do it for me.
BUT, I read about this hotel on Tripadvisor and it sounds great and the reviews are VERY good.

We really like Turgutreis as a resort (it's on the Bodrum Peninsular) and has at least 3 AI hotels within walking distance of the town itself:
Mandalinci
Aegean Dreams
La Blanche
No idea about the reviews though.
I agree with PompeyPete about checking out holiday-specific websites - Tripadvisor and Holidaytruths are good sources.0 -
AI doesn't do it for us either, too many rules! There is far too much to see and do outside of these holiday camps.
Me and the Mrs are going to Turkey at the end of February.
EasyJet to Istanbul, and a couple of nights in that awesome city.
Fly down to Antalya - 4 nights in a traditional guest house in the atmospheric old town (Kaleici).
Bus to Side - staying in 2 inexpensive but well recommended places.
Back to Antalya for our last couple of nights.
Sorry for going a bit off-topic!0 -

I agree with wallbash about Lara Beach, it really is just hotels on the beach with very little around.
If you let us know a little more about the kind of resort you are looking for e may be able to help. Do you want a small or lively resort? Do you have a preference of airport?
I am like some of the others on here and don't like AI as I prefer to go out and experience different places so would you consider B&B or SC or do you definitely want AI/HB?0 -
Me , I love Ai , but you get what you pay for , Ai and cheap equals a disastrous holiday.AI doesn't do it for us either, too many rules!
What rules ???0 -
Hi AntiqueMan,
It really depends what kind of holiday your looking for - Turkey is amazing and offers all sorts.
Kalkan is quite cosmopolitan - plenty of really good hotels and some great villas (although on a steep hill so be careful with the villas). Plenty of lovely restaurants and nice little shops. No beach here really though - although plenty of beach clubs which we thought were great. (Patara beach isn't too far though - which is huge). Plenty of local travel agents to arrange trips with too.
Kas is also great get a real mix of people - beaches around and lots of good accommodation.
We went to Cirali / Olympos last year. Beautiful, great friendly people. Not many hotels as such. We stayed at Hotel Canada and although it can highly rated by tripadvisor we found the owners a little overbearing. Although this may have been stress induced (it was full of kids when we were there and very busy
).
If you have any queries about the above PM me.
One thing I should add - we caught a bus from Cirali to Kas and we thought it was great - efficient and well run (air con and free chilled bottled water for the journey) - we got chatting to so many other travelers during that trip - Turkish as well as other travelers).
Best of luck,
Woo0 -
turgitreis is fab, accommodation for most tastes and easy to get to bodrum, one of the best places we have been to in turkey0
