Dog scratching/biting same area

As near as he could reach, so as near to the, top area of his back leg/spine as he could reach (wrong shape dog to reach any further)!
I say nibble, as in the past he had chewed & scratched it by rubbing it on the underside of the coffee table, till he broke the skin, so my mum is used to looking out for any signs of this, starting with a patch where the fur was nibbled short.
But as I say it may have become a habit as he did it in that are when he had the flea/food allergy issue too.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
My dog is regularly wormed and flea treated and I get compliments about his lovely glossy coat.
But for the last 2 weeks he's been biting and scratching at an area on the side of his body. He wasn't quite due his flea treatment but I gave him it anyway, but the scratching hasn't stopped.
I've examined him minutely but can't see anything there. I've combed out his fur onto damp blotting paper to see if there are any specks of blood (flea dirt) but nothing.
It's only this part of him that seems to be bothering him.
I'm using Frontline Spot On, which I've always used for all my dogs with good effect...I've never seen fleas, but use it as a preventative measure.
So if it's not fleas or a skin problem, what else could it be?
Frontline doesn't appear to work anymore, your dog could have invisible biting lice. Advocate seems to do the trick in zapping the blighters, good luck.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

Our lovely Jack (a Lakeland Cross ) had thinning patches on either side a while time ago (about on his hip)
Our vet said it was his anal glands and the bald patches were as far round as he could reach, he also said not all dogs scoot.
He hasn't suffered since or in the previous 18 mths we've had him (he's a rescue so don't know any history).
Vet suggested it could be a one off (hopefully so as my husband hasn't recovered yet!!):rotfl:0 -

I have moggies and a doggie, any sores, cat fight bites ,scratches, abcess, scratching, biting self, they get I treat with either Aloe Vera gel,or a few drops of Organic Cider Vinager and cooled boiled water, or even cooking salt and cooled boiled water,it always works a treat, either bathe with cotton wool,or rub in with your hands.
Use of any of the three cannot hurt the animal,I just keep trying untill I find which one works best ,plus I use all three on my self for all kinds of ailments.
I Currently had a large tooth abcess ,cleared it wonders with Organic Cider Vinager,
And my friend recently had bad sickness bug,she said nothing is helping so I gave her a jar of dry powder cooking Ginger,I said mix a small ammount with water plus juice or flavour, keep taking you can never overdose on it ,she said she took it home had a couple of doses ,and next she knew no more sickness.Ginger is good for travel sickness, morning sickness, any sickness its always worth trying Ginger first
I always keep a store of Ginger,Salt,Organic Vinager,Aloe Vera in my cuboard,for myself and animals0 -
