Vent. Asda delivery drivers leaving crates and ruined groceries.

Options
Last week I ordered my shopping online, from Asda, as usual, no problems. Delivery driver arrived with about 4 crates of shopping but couldn't go through my whole order with me as I had a Guy doing some work on my front door. He asked if He could just leave the crates there and pick them up later that afternoon. I agreed on the condition they were not just left there as the council fine you if you leave such things lying around.

Unsurprisingly, they were not picked up. I couldn't bring them inside either as I have a small house and a baby crawling around. Phoned Asda twice and they said they would be picked up next time a driver was in the area.

Well, this Week, ordered shopping again, as usual and when it arrived, I asked the driver to take the crates from the previous week and told Him I had a warning from the Council about them and He put them in the van.......and drove off!! Leaving the other crates with THIS week's shopping behind!!!

Phoned Asda now 3 times. I'm so angry! To top it off, not only do they not go through the shopping list with you (They are supposed to, I was told this by Asda twice) When He slammed the crates down, He smashed all my glass jars and burst the yoghurt pots for my baby.

Asda keep promising to pick these crates up and I have had a warning from the council to move them. I feel like crying :(

  • They aren't your crates and have asda printed on them, so not your responsibility to the council.Just deny all responsibility for them.

As for the checking your order with the driver, thats the kind if thing some idiot director would come up with and then not allow the driver any extra time in his day to cover it.We have asda deliver our food and I'd never expect the driver to stay and check it through with me as I understand he hs a lot to do.Sometimes there are mistakes but they always get resolved and its not like the driver can nip back into his van and borrow a loaf and half a dozen eggs form someone elses order if its missing form mine.

Why not ask the driver to go through your list with you when hes dropping off your shopping, are you using asda as they are only 1 who delivers to you ?

have you tried sainsburys or tescos delivery ?
do you have an iceland as you can get free delivery when you spend £25 instore

and re the crates do as skiddlydiddly says and say nothing to do with you, the council will go away and hopefully contact loclal asda store and get them to pick the boxes up
  • The last time I had Asda deliver, I found the driver to be rude and unhelpful. He did go through the list with me but that was that.

    Tesco are a lot better.

I have shopped with Asda for over 3 years and I have never had the driver go through the order with me.

Call the Council and tell them that the warning should have been issued to Asda, give them the name of the store and tell them to stop sending silly threats to you! I have worked for the Council for over 15 years and I have never heard of anyone getting a warning for leaving some supermarket crates on their doorstep but every area differs but I would love to know who the Council are.

Sainsburys cancelled my order for Christmas 2 days before it was due, Asda have failed to turn up on 2 occassions and Tesco cancelled on the day of a delivery for Xmas (I added to my mums order after Sainsburys cancelled) so I dont think anyone can say one store is better than another, when they are good, they are very very good and when they are bad they are a blooming nightmare. The quality of service varies from store to store.

Mine always does, he hands me the list to go through with him to check that all is ok and I'm happy with any substitutions.
