Changing CD Player in Renault Megane..?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 Renault Megane and it currently has the standard CD Player in.

I have a CD/MP3/USB Radio that I fitted (I bought the adaptor) and it all worked fine, but the gap is too small for my CD Player to fit in.

Has anybody else successfully changed theirs or is this something I might have to go directly to Renault for?

Thanks :)

You need a fascia adapter, Halfords, Ebay or local car ICE shop.

The linked item is a suggestion, you need to check if it will fit your car.

Thanks Inner Zone - I actually went to Halfords to get the adapter for the fitting so you would have thought they would have told me I needed this too!! I explained to them it was a Megane etc...useless! :p

Wilykit, why are you blaming Halfords?

Surely you yourself noticed that the radio you intended to fit was smaller than the hole in the dash?

So why did you not ask Halfords about this possible discrepancy when you were there the first time?

Take some of the responsibility yourself.

The adaptor quoted is the wrong one for an 07 Megane, FP-08-01 is the correct item http://productfinder.autoleads.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?&m=RENAULT&f=MEGANE&id=1113&pID=16666 which just fills in the small gaps because the radio is not square. Many renaults have an internal plastic frame in the hole as their units are smaller than standard and this needs removing, this could be the case as you say the hole is too small. The earlier model mentioned certainly does.

    OK I did state:

"The linked item is a suggestion, you need to check if it will fit your car"

So assuming your suggestion is correct here is an updated Halfords link for the OP. But Halfords list two under the same part number FP-08-01. Both look the similar different angles in the photos.

I was messing about, get off your high horse!

All radios are a standard size so I thought it would have fitted. I didn't ask about this 'discrepancy' because I hadn't fitted the radio before, and I have changed CD Players in previous cars no problem.

Come on here for advice and you end up getting a lecture.

For some reason they are showing the same FP-08-01 as an Autoleads special order item and a stock item, not unusual on their computer system. AFAIAA Autoleads do not do this in different colours.

Have you looked to see if there is a plastic sleeve in the hole as per my earlier post ?

I haven't as yet, I am going to show the links to my dad and ask him to have a look - he's better at this stuff than I am! Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it and I will let you know :) xx

Your radio din size is the same as my RenaultSport din size.

A single din radio won't fit as you'll have a gap around the actual radio itself as the standard stereo is slightly larger than an aftermarket stereo.

Halfords do sell the adaptor and it's roughly £10-15.

I did have one taken out fom my clio but i binned it. If i had it still i would have let you had it
