How to measure stairway and hall for wallpaper?

Exactly what it says on the title. This is a new build house, and we've been here almost two years. I have decided to wallpaper the hall, and have chosen a paper, but have no idea how to go about measuring up for it. I have done so previously in normal shaped and sized rooms but never papered a stairway before. How do I measure up? The paper is a normal sized roll with a 64cm pattern repeat. :o

TIA

straight ceiling? measure A to B and add your pattern drop.

or measure A1 to B2 and add your pattern drop.

as a rule you get 4 drops per roll , so your stairwell will be 2 drops plus the pattern , it's better to have too much than find you're short at the bottom .

I usually make an 'educated guess' based on 4 drops per roll for normal walls and then 2 or 3 drops per roll for the long drops in the stairwell (based on 'eye'). After that I usually buy 1 or, maybe, 2 extra rolls. I haven't wallpapered for about six or seven years as we have gone to painted walls but you used to be able to take unused (and unopened) rolls back for a refund provided you did it in a sensible period of time.

esp for stairs, try not to use a large drop pattern. stairwells use a lot of paper.
if you really must use a drop pattern get a very small drop.
otherwise you will waste a lot of paper. and that aint very MSE.

tbh i personally wouldn't paper stairs , they do get a lot of wear and tear esp if you've got kids , or if you have any furnuture moved in and out if the paper gets scuffed or torn then it's ruined , much easier to paint

i prefer the embossed type paper. no pattern to speak off.
its then painted every few years.
