but you will only get housing benefit is they disregard the equity you have in the house...would suggest you get some advice before you sign up for somewhere and then find you will get no help with the rent

Dory, my best advice to you would be to speak to your local Citizens Advice, they may be able to look at the whole plate rather than the saucer you may only be able to discuss now if you get my picture. My parents have split up, well 2 years ago tomorrow, and even though it is amicable you need to make sure you have your back covered. Try and get an appointment with CAB in next few days. Also should it become intolerable to share the roof with your soon to be ex hubby then maybe speak to the council. There may be schemes for assistance with deposits in your area, I have just moved from temporary to permenant through that kind of scheme.

Above and beyond all, keep breathing and keep strong. Splitting is not easy even if amicable.
