What's happened to the United Kingdom? It's absolutely filthy!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're safe and well?
I've just returned home after being out for a little stroll in the fresh air but I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have bothered now, really upset at the state of my country and I just can't believe how a so called first-world nation could be in such a mess. I wasn't feeling too good earlier and so one of my carers suggested that I go for a little stroll around my neighbourhood with them and as they pushed me along in my wheelchair I have to tell you that I've never been so ashamed of how dirty and disgusting this country has become as I am now. What's happened to the United Kingdom? doesn't anybody take a pride in their community anymore? I found myself constantly being pushed from side to side to try and avoid dog mess and everywhere you looked there is graffiti on walls, broken beer bottles, cigarette doubts, litter and drug paraphernalia of all sorts and everything and anything is dumped at will on the streets from old prams to fridges and sofas.
I passed a burnout motorbike and children making a sort of den out of old rubbish and shopping trolleys they'd gathered and the dog bins had been quite obviously kicked off the walls and the bins set on fire. Do you know those little green bags you get? there was a whole lot of them hanging from trees and one unfortunate person had a whole buckets worth strewn across their lawn and it just goes to show how lazy and how little pride people seem to take in this once beautiful country now. I'm not a very mobile person and not in the best of health but boy do I take a pride in where I live. It absolutely shocks me to see the state of the streets in this nation now and if ONLY you could see how bad it was here today then maybe you'd understand just how upsetting this is for me. I take a pride in where I live and I just can't understand why nothing is done about this because nobody should have to live in squalor such as what I seen today, you'd think it was a third-world battlezone from the looks of it and that's not a joke. Thanks everyone and sorry to rant but I just felt like this had to be said, take care

You might perhaps consider narrowing down your area of disgust as the "United Kingdom" is not as you describe.0

Perhaps it would be worth contacting departments at your local council, ie fly tipping, grafitti team, environmental health etc.0

We had to drive from one side of Birmingham to the other on Boxing Day and we went through Sparkhill/Sparkbrook and the amount of litter there was massive. I've never seen so much.
People slate Stoke as a dump but it's far from it compared with Brum.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Thanks for that
I've already done this last summer and was told they just don't have the money anymore. I understand times are hard but surely there's prisoners or people on community service who could at least clean the place up? I'm thoroughly ashamed to see my community in this mess because this used to be a lovely place and it's just gone downhill so fast. The council used to have beautiful rose and flowerbeds in a little garden across the road from my home but they've now dug out the flowers and left what was rose beds and flowerbeds to just overgrow with weeds and they don't cut the verges now either which makes the place look even more run-down and uncared for as during the summer the grass grew into what looked like a field of hay. I've also noticed foxes and other wild animals start to inhabit the place but I'm thinking this could be due to all the litter and things lying around. I'm sorry if I sound like a grouch with nothing better to complain about but this is something that's really bothered me and if I could I'd clean it up myself I would.0 -

why let it bother you so much, only person you should be bothering about is yourself and family if you have any
if it bothers you that much why not get onto your local mp,0 -

Was in Spain in the spring and the amount of graffiti and litter in the crappy areas is just as bad as here, in fact the racist graffiti is probably worse. You get this in all nations. If you don't want to see it, move to somewhere decent. It certainly isn't everywhere. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
