Cashback sites

Hi,

Last time I was researching car insurance to get the best deal, I used the normal comparison sites. Once I had the best deal, I used the cashback site Quidco to purchase the insurance. In theory this would have given me an extra £50 cashback. However, It seems that the cashback went to someone else (most likely one of the comparison sites.) I did the same with my wife’s car insurance and received the cashback from Quidco.

Anyone know a way of finding the best deal, then using a cashback sites and being sure of getting the cash back?

Regards

Martin

always search on one browser , like Internet Explorer , and then do any Cashback site purchases on another browser like Googles Chrome or Firefox

    no conflicting cookies then ;)

If you have two computer (work & home) then that's a pretty good way.
Otherwise use different browsers like firefox & explorer. One for searches, one for buying.
However there is NO guarantee of getting cashback so my advice is to find a deal that you are happy with anyway.

Also do not use your correct address / e-mail / phone on the comparison sites. They say they do not use those details but I had cashback turned down even though I used different computers.

You absolutely MUST use the correct address for house/car insurance.
The postcode where you live is absolutely crucial for the quotation.
A wrong address will invalidate any quotes.

False email and phone number I totally agree with.
  • Great advise, thanks. My insurance runs out in Feb, so I will have to start looking soon. It would be nice just to stay with the same company, but it always pays to change.

    Thanks again.

False postcode, close, but don't use yours.

I am pretty sure we have been told on here that even a very close potcode may yield very diffent quotes if the claims experience is different.

I always use my correct postcode and I have never received any letters so I am fairly confident in saying that the preferred method of contacting you is not snail mail.

I tried to use same postcode but different house number ( i.e one that didn't exist ) but because they use 'find address' and drop down boxes it would not let me use an invalid address.
