Put OH in the shed with a sleeping bag, kettle and small portable TV.

It used to be possible to get a grant for a stairlift - subject to certain criteria. Check with local Occupational Therapists.
Alternatively, bear in mind that you will one day suffer with knee problems too, so the option of a bungalow may be a good one.0 -
Have a look at a few bungalows within budget and see what you think.0

How devoted are you to your OH? If mobility is a big deal and a bungalow is better then there shouldn't even be a question. As you have deleted your post I don't know what your issue is. Was it that you didn't want to move from your present home?

Of course not having central heating in the current home might be another reason the OH wants to move.......0
