First Post First Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
A couple of weeks ago British Gas came around and marked up in the street as there was a slow gas leak. It is apparently not priority but is scheduled to be fixed in the new year. A couple of days ago a neighbour across the road reported the smell again and someone has come out this morning. DH was coming back after taking the dog for a walk and can smell gas at the bottom of our drive, so went out and spoke with the man who came over with his equipment and checked out our drive which does smell. The back garden is clear but he came into the house and got a reading from inside, so that has now escalated the priority and he is waiting outside in his van until someone comes.

If they have to dig our drive up which is block paving, who is responsible for putting it back together again?

The whole area has apparently got lots of leaks due to the bad weather - he said they have 600+ cases waiting to be dealt with.

Chances are they will install a new supply to your property from the street. If this is the case, they will more often than not use a mole to borrow under your drive, with a hole at either end.

The gas emergency service provider in your area is responsible for repairing the leak and re-instating your driveway if it needs to be excavated. This will be done at no cost to you.

Also, British Gas dont respond to gas leaks so it might be an idea to find out which company the engineer works for and a contact number in case you have any problems with the re-instatement of the driveway.

The main networks are: National Grid Gas, Northern Gas Networks, Scotland Gas Networks, Southern Gas Networks and West & West Utilities.

    Hope this helps.
