    This year I will:
    • Use up everything in 2nd freezer & switch off until harvest time.
    • Plan meals better
    • Stop having "buy one, chuck one away" offers.
    • Ebay at least one thing a week
    • Cut down on gas/electricity use
    • Use all stuff grown on allotment instead of composting/giving away
    • Use breadmaker/bake more
    • Finish decluttering home (found some amazing things)
    • persuade OH to get rid of Sky HD, 2nd room charge, 2nd phone line only used for alarm,
    • Tell son he must pay his own buspass & phone bill.:p

    This year I will:

    1. get as much as possible out of the lottie and back garden.
    2. use food in freezer and cupboard before buying more.
    3. every penny from cash back sites will go on the credit card.
    4. make sure I do a car boot sale as soon as the weather is nice and make sure the profits go on the credit card.
    5. use the washing line as soon as possible.
    6. make sure I make soup/salad for packed lunches
    7. continue to be economical with the water/gas/electricity
    8. buy presents for birthdays/christmas through the year again, makes a HUGE difference (already started in the sales)

    Good luck everyone!
  • 1. Use the Tumble Dryer less
    2. Grow more of my own and be more successful this time
    3. Walk more
    4. Stop dropping into the shops for a chocolate bar for me and the kids. We don't need it
    5. Literally SAVE more, put £1 a day away for Christmas, and put at least £10 a week into my Credit Un ion account.
    6. Be even more strict about light switches.

    I'm hoping to
    1. Eat out far less frequently, including coffees and lunches
    2. Start using more beans in my cooking as these are cheap and healthy
    3. Drive less/walk more
    4. Do a lot less activities that cost money, spend more time just having fun with my family
    5. Grow a few vegetables to get started - my brother bought me a box that you can just plant in the garden so I'm going to give that a go!
    6. Only go to the shops if we absolutely need something else I just end up buying things
    7. Sell some stuff on ebay for the first time ever
Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!

We had to say goodbye to our dog this week so sadly this will save me between £50 - £80 a month :( I was thinking of saving this maybe towards a holiday for the girls and I as we haven't had one since the dog became ill.
I'm going to try and ebay and bootfair as much as I can this summer.
I'm also going try walking to work once the weathers nicer, I never keep to this as I find it hard with my split shifts.
I'm not going to enter any supermarket during the week unless I REALLY need to and will only food shop after payday and try not to take my youngest DD with me as I always end up spending more.
Also going to write a shopping list and stick to it!
I'm going to try shopping at Netto / Aldi to see if it's cheaper also the local butchers and farm shop.
I'm going to continue meal planning.
Going to cut down on using the tumble dryer and use the washing line.
I'm going to readjust the heating timer and turn down the radiators.

I'm also going to start paying my DD's pocket money in return for jobs, this will hopefully free time up for me to do my studies (I'm doing an O.U degree) and teach them I'm not a money tree and to budget what they get :)

I'm not sure what more I can do(that i'm comfortable with)!
I want to perfect making my own facemasks, lip balms and creams. Learn how to make bath bombs/salts.
I could errr... make moonshine? :P
I wish I could learn to make underwear, being able to make a simple underwired bra would be awesome!
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
  • Will continue to (attempt) to meal plan. Some weeks it goes out the window, but I never waste anything. :j
Also, continue to bulk cook and freeze portions for zapping at a later date. Just made 3 portions of spag bol in one and bulked out the mince with soya mince (fairly cheap from health shops and you can't tell the difference).
Will also avoid going to the shops "just for a look around" because I will inevitably buy something that I "just can't leave behind."
Also will think of little things like coffee shop coffees and magazines as the same thing but bought on the holiday I'm planning for summer. Will help me put it into perspective that I'd enjoy a coffee or a meal ten times more on holiday than in grey old Blighty! :rotfl:
Thanks for all the tips, too! Keep them coming! :T
    Proud to be OS :j
