For a start, as this is a private parking matter then this is not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice. You do not not owe the company anything (except technically 30p). From now on do not contact them and ignore any correspondence from them. For further reassurance please read all the other threads on here that deal with private parking matters.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • thankyou for the advice i was going to write to them to appeal as there is no email address or telephone number???I am just a wee bit frightened that it could further though as it is a £80 start fee and £ 40 on top of that if i din,t get in touch???If theses firms are not allowed to do this why is the ticket is intemidating????

    I concur fully.

Why else would anyone pay? Its down to percentages. The more intimidating they look the more pay straight away. The longer it takes the less likely it is that the victim will pay.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

The machine might not have registered the extra 30p if it hadn't caught up with itself (not registered all inserted coins) and you pressed the button to issue the ticket, a lot of P&D machines are like this.

Best option if there is no council involvement and it is a ppc, is still to ignore

I know its tempting to write and explain, but honestly it will just encourage them.
The best option is to ignore them.

They seem to be upsetting people here!

Just take a look at the thread "*PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING*" at the top of this sub-board.

  • Human nature is to sort the thing out but as stated by several other posters, that is not the right thing to do with these people. If you make contact, they will assume that you are gullible to cough up and will intimidate you all the more. Be prepared for scary letters that have NO legal validity and post on here again if you become worried. It is not a fine, it is a begging letter and the firm concerned are well known to all of us on here. Do not let this matter ruin your new year, it is simply not worth it.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
