February Grocery Challenge £301.46/300
To feed - Me, DH, DD, DS and 1 dog0 -
Is it wrong of me to feel guilty that I've now put the cats on Sainsburys own brand cat food.
Nope! I think they all contain around 4% meat so are much the same in terms of that. If they usually eat Felix or Whiskas, then they are 4% meat, so if they will eat the supermarket brand, then feed it to them!
Variety is the key, don't feed them the same brand or flavour all the time or they'll get bored.
Ours will eat As Good As It Looks until it comes out of their ears, but they only get it when its on offer! Unfortunately, we don't get away with cans either!! Keep an eye out for the cheaper higher meat varieties if you want to give them a treat (Tescos do a luxury chicken cat food which is around £4.25 for 12 pouches and contains 20% meat). Also the odd tin of cheap tuna (washed well if it is in brine) always goes down well as a treat if you are feeling guilty.0 -

Off to do a freezer audit so that I can plan meals more effectively. Anyone got any suggestions for using up frozen broad beans? OH picked them up instead of peas by accident, and I fancy something more interesting than just as a veg with roast.
The suggestion for a pate is a great one...I'd take a look at Weezel's site as they have a couple bean recipes & I'm sure you'd be able to adapt one to suit.
I just came back from Adl!'s & spent £35.89...I'm pleased as we have all been stuck inside ill & were in dire need of loo roll - the kids have only JUST gone back to school today & the christmas tree down yesterday - yikes! I feel I'm only JUST getting back on track...
Hope all have a very good Monday!0 -

Have a great day everyone,,,
am loving the sound of your weeks meals:).
Well back from shopping at MR S and spent £16.93 but shouldn't need to get anything else for a few days.
1% Milk is £1.00 at the moment so am buying some in to freeze. Also managed to get 2 more Gluten free xmas puds for 25p each. They're quite big and full price were about £3.80 and thy're dated till march 2012. Also the Billingtons organic golden caster sugar was cheap atm which I needed for baking.
So plan is Baked pots with smoked salmon and cream cheese and salad for tonight followed by the microwave chocolate pudding I'm trying from the recipe list at the beginning of the thread. It sounds yummy:p.
Tomorrow we will have veggie spag bol made with lentils and loads of veggies and weds will be fajitas/tacos ( have everything in the house for all this.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

Dh loves bacon, broad beans and parsley sauce. Cook the beans. Make some parsley sauce. Cook some bacon and then cut it into bits. Mix all together make sure its hot and eat up.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Billy-Jo that sounds great. Will definitely try as we have lots of bacon in the freezer as well, and you can only do so many bacon sarnies (particularly if you are trying to lose 3stGC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

I have just gone a bit crazy and ordered loads of "luxury goods" biscuits, cakes, and the like from ApproOved Foods. Spent £20.20 out of my budget, but have masses coming as I was £20 in credit! Now I am wondering where I will store it all as the new house doesnt have room! Oops. under the stairs will need a complete rethink! Although I know that the kids usually all go home with a carrier bag of stuff each whenever I have one of these kind of deliveries!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
