Its gona be my first NSD after hubbies pay day :)

Is it wrong of me to feel guilty that I've now put the cats on Sainsburys own brand cat food. Its over a £1 cheaper for 12 cans (then whiskers and felix) and the flavours are a little better too, especially as my cats seem determined not to eat beef and with whiskas and felix I found that more often then not, if I went for the fish option I was ok, anything else and I ended up with unwanted beef cans that the cats would be lumbered with having to eat, and only really pick at..

There eating chicken & rabbit mix at the moment, and they love it.

My hubby said that when we are financially a lot better off in 2-3months time, we can go back to whiskers/felix (woohoo) but wonder if I should?

Gona see how they are this month and go from there..

Off to do a freezer audit so that I can plan meals more effectively. Anyone got any suggestions for using up frozen broad beans? OH picked them up instead of peas by accident, and I fancy something more interesting than just as a veg with roast.
Make a pate or chutney with them. I have made a dip with them before but would need to dig out the recipe when I get home from work.

Just a quick update to say that I ended up the week with an £8 surplus. We went to LIdl and Mr S and spent £41 of this week's budget which included quite a few cleaning products and anti-p for me. I bought bread this morning and need to get a few bits for the meal plan (I made a list at the weekend and then forgot to take it, but I did stick to what I could remember) so I should have about £8 left again this week out of the £50 budgeted.
  • Been to town to register with doctors...called in to Lidl and spent £4.54, i'd forgotten that best bud and her 3 kids were coming for tea!! We do alternate weeks and it was her turn but she is having a new kitchen next week so her house is in termoil so they are coming here instead, she will make up for it when kitchen is finished though :T I've update my sig

    Thanks*Spike*

OK. Shouldn't need to buy anything but F&V for about 2 months. Freezer list comes to A4 page, 2 columns. I have 9 portions of chilli alone. All sorts of things hiding at the bottom that really need cooking though. Don't really need 14 individual portions of gravy. Maybe I can combine them for a sauce for the beef olives I found?

    Menu plans here we come:j

I know what you mean Minnie...I have one like that at home. Why am I saving that, why don't I wash everything on 40 degrees for 3 hours, putting dishwasher on twice a day half full and sticks things in the dryer when it's a fair windy day. He pays the leccy bill so he'll do what he likes. I've had to get canny and do the washing in the evening then stick it out first thing on the line. Goes mad if I try and stop draughts, says we need ventilation:eek:...what can you do...I say he's turned into an old woman:rotfl:
I guess I'm lucky looking at the above posts. My DH insists an doing all the washing at 30 degree(but he won't use my eco balls or soapnuts)
He hangs it out on the line and gets it in and uses the dryer minimally as we have 3 airers in the garage.
The dishwasher is only used about 3 times a week if dd or myself put it on-he insists on washing up.
He wont go shopping--hates it so I do the shopping and buy very wisely.
Sometimes I don't like any of the above mind you-but it does work!

I HAD one of those as well, he insisted on washing the dishes by hand under running hot water (taking hours), even though we have a dishwasher, put the dryer on for 90 min to dry 1 thing, at least once a day . Moaned when I made draft excluders and sausages for the doors and windows, and thermal linings for the curtains.
It wasn't till our joint fuel bills rocketed to almost £500 per month, that I got him to listen. Now our fuel consumption is 1/4 of what it was, and the house is warmer. I laughed this year when he kept nagging me to get out the draft excluders for the windows and doors, he was cold, (this winter really sorted him out). And to make them for the remaining windows.
I was getting accused of being extravagant, LOL. £6,000 per year on fuel was ridiculous, I persuaded him to try it MY way and try and get the bills down, it took two years, now they have settled to around £125 per month, £1.500 pa, and have been around for 18 months.
He's worse than me now, if he wants to wash dishes by hand he uses a bowl of hot water.
I'm making heavy lined curtains for my two daughters cold flats now and draft proofing their windows and doors, I cant make them fast enough LOL. I got up at 6 am to finish them. While the taskmaster is tucked up fast asleep in Bed.
Men have only two faults , everything they say and everything they do ROTFLMAO!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • happy monday to everyone! not doing too well on any challenges to date...

DH spend £17 in Farmfoods and £6 in HB (only sent him to get bread and milk!)

I spent £5 in HB on on Saturday for cinema snacks and £3 in Sainsburys on bananas, blueberries and lemons so that's another £31 to add to the pot - should be a NSD today hopefully!
