Apart from PC World, where else to buy a PC?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new pc...

But the only retailer I know of that sells a wide range is PC World.

Can anyone suggest other good retailers (in store/ online) to look at?

Thank you.

Scotty

there are lots of places, all depends on what you are actualluy looking for, for example
the off the shelf boxes (like PC world)
    ebuyer
    CCLcomputers
    Microdirect
    Aria
    Scan
    Novatech
    Tesco

custom built systems (you get to specify some or all of the parts included)
    DinoPC
    Cyberpowersystems
    pcspecialist
    dell
    local PC shops

there are others of course this is just a small list
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

PCWorld is the best store from a 'look and touch' perspective, but there are many online places that will do a much better deal. As mentioned above a local PC shop will usually build one to your specification (although I found them expensive).

Online: Dell (believe it or not), eBuyer, Misco

  • I tend to buy from Dell outlet (http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/dfo/df.aspx?refid=df&s=dfo) who sell returned computers at a decent discount.

My Dell studio 17 is still going strong after 2 years and only cost 400 quid back then. My other dell desktop is 4 years old and is still ticking away in daily use at my in-laws. I think that was only 280 quid.

My parents buy their PC's (and subsequent laptops) from John Lewis because they like the level of customer service provided by JL staff.
