Pointing a wall

Have received a quote to re-point the side wall of our house at just over £1600. The house is standard size semi-detached, does the quote sound reasonable please. We live in the North West of England, by the way.
Would be grateful for any advice.

I paid £250 to have the side of my house re-pointed in the summer.0

I can't believe there is such a difference in pricing! Was the price for stripping out old grout and re-grouting? It looks like we need another quote?
Thanks for replying0 -
The price was for everything.
He cleared out the old rubbish and re-pointed it perfectly.
It looks as though it has been there since the house was built.
He said the trick was to mix the cement with ash so it looks aged, I dont know whether he was pulling my chain but it looks great.0 -
Thanks for the information Advent, the price sounds too good to be true. We will certainly have to look around for better prices.
Anyone know a good, reliable builder in the Lancashire area?0 -

Were about in lancashire? I know quite a few builders i can ask one for you if you want.
Do you need the old mortar wizzing out and repointing or just pointing in certain places?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature and avatar. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
We're between Preston and Southport. The old mortar needs taking out and re-grouting - the whole wall needs to be done.
If you could PM some good reliable builders in the area I would be grateful.
