M&S no sale

Christmas Eve M&S sale started
a Sony KDL40EX503 reduced from 749.00 to 599.00 just in time before Sony Vat back ends and offers page also showing free Blue Ray player with this TV. Put it into basket and tried to complete sale but still showing 749.00 even though it said 150.00 would be taken of at checkout.
Immediately sent off an email, got a reply to my mail today saying they were sorry and it would be reported to website team to ensure it didn't happen again. Not satisfied with this answer I rang them and after checking with the IT department agreed there had been an error with the website but that they were not prepared to honour the advertised price. The original selling price has now been changed to 849.00 with 150.00 off and no Blue Ray, what kind of sale is this, charging more in the sale than before the sale.
Their parting shot was 699.00 with Blue Ray thrown in, again more than some of their original deal of the day offers when the VAT could have been claimed back.
I would be interested to know if anyone else tried to buy at 599.00 and if you were successful or have managed to get then to honour the deal. I have lost all faith in M&S sales, Another retailer had it at 609.99 a little while ago before I was ready to buy so 599.00 isn't an impossible price.

sounds like it was a genuine pricing error and stores don't tend to honour them. You get more of them this time of year as the IT department will be on holiday and there will only be minimum support on the websites. To be honest I am quite impressed with M&S here as though they are under no legal obligation to offer you the cheaper price they're offered you a free Blu Ray player which seems reasonably generous. On a seperate topic, although I like M&S as a store for many things if you want a cheap TV they're not the best place to go, I don't think whenever I have bought a TV M&S have ever been the cheapest option.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
