Hello everyone,
We have recently "adopted" a 6 month old kitten from CPL...she has been with us for a fortnight. She is very playful, which is great, but over the last few days she has decided to keep jumping behind the TV. We have tried moving the TV but she still seems to get behind it! We are worried that she will hurt herself on the wires etc etc, do any of you lovely people have any ideas on how we can dissuade her from going near there?
Thank you and a happy new year to you all.

The only thing you can do is block her access. cats like warm cosy places to hide but she might have a wee down there and it will be a nightmare to clean up.
Oh I love kittens!

I agree.you need to block the access,Orbit weed over a portable TV when he was a kitty! Thankfully it was unplugged when he.er,went!I'd make sure the TV ect is plugged into an RCD adaptor as below, that way if kitty does do something, the lekkie will trip.

We went for months with old cardboard boxes blocking all nooks and crannys that were not safe for kittens to get into - the house looked a mess but the kits grew up safe and sound!
It may also help if you give kitty a nice cosy box in an out of the way place so she can hide / nap in there. Mine loved to kip behind the sofa. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

this wont help, but yesterday my cat fell off the top of the of the TV and landed behind it! he came out looking very confused, and a bit sleepy..... whoops!0

One of mine in the past loved to lie on top of one of those old-style CRT PC monitors - he liked the heat, and when the mood took him he liked to play chase the mouse cursor on the screen... you try typing work documents while peering around a whirling dervish of paws and pointy ears!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Our kittens both did the same thing; as already mentioned, unless you can block access your cat will probably keep doing it!
Try removing her every time she goes back there, and perhaps then trying to distract her with a toy or something so that she doesn't immediately go back again. We're quite lucky as our TV stand presses right back against the wall so we did that to stop ours from getting back there. Eventually they got bored of trying and found something else to do. Good luck!0
