I am a little concerned by the dates in your previous post. Technically your notice period must end at the end of a rental period. Does your rental period run from the 16th of a month to the 15th? If he wants to be difficult, he can enforce your notice period which would expire at the end of the next rental period, i.e. 15th feb. This may not be relevant but I raise it in case it is.0

well he did at first say to me that we have to give him notice on the date we pay our rent, which is the 15th. this would of meant we would of had to give notice on the 15th january. when i said to him about gettin this problem atleast half sorted or even give us a slight discount on our rent due to not wanting to do anything about the problems we are experiencing he emailed me to say to just give him notice whenever we find somewhere and have done with it.
do you think this could cause us problems?0 -
It could but your landlord sounds like an amateur numpty so they might not hold you to the proper legal notice period.
Just get the hell out of there and cross your fingers.0 -
Please be careful as the landlord's email saying 'you'd best find somewhere else' doesn't exactly say he will release you from all obligations. Unless he does, then legally you could still be liable to pay rent for the remaining months of the agreement even if you've moved out.
A cheap answer to the windows problem is Stormguard secondary glazing film, sold at B&Q and other places. It's clear plastic film, mounted around the window frame with double sided tape then sealed in place with a hairdryer. Works out only a couple of quid per window. As long as you give the window frames a good clean so that the tape sticks properly to start with, it will stay put for a year or three, we have found, and the moment it's up you notice a big difference in warmth.:T:j :TMFiT-T2 No.120|Challenge started 12.12.09|MFD 12.12.12 :j:T:j0
