Beware Cosmos Tesco Clubcard Deals.
Recently received £800 of Cosmos Tesco Clubcard deals, now only £600 in value can be accepted.
Holiday in Egypt's Sharm in Cosmos Book £1509 less £600 in Vouchers threfore £909 to Pay.
Same Holiday in Egypt's Sharm on Monarch web site (Monarch wholly owns Cosmos) £900.
This makes the £800 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers worthless!!
Dont be conned like me,use your points elswhere

i suppose it all depends on how well you look into the deals and do the research before hand, when we booked ours this year i researched the holiday first on the internet and into the travel agents and they was actuaally the best price around for my particular holiday so we made quite a good saving with them anyway and then used our clubcard rewards as a bonus.now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

I know it's not as exotic as Egypt but if you can also use them for this company you will at least get value for money.0 -
Beware Cosmos Tesco Clubcard Deals.
Beware of not doing your own research before deciding which clubcard deals are best for your own circumstances.
I have had one holiday with Cosmos and am about to book my second with Virgin using clubcard deals and consistently get good value for the holidays I choose.0 -

I think Zak's point is a fair one just perhaps worded poorly.
It is worth noting that discounts off the holidays are only off list price and you can regularly get online discounts and negotiate over the phone based on other quotes.
So unless you have alot of CC vouchers and don't fancy anything else then Cosmos deal may not be for you.0 -
The same thing happened to me about 3 years ago. That was with Cosmos on a holiday to Lanzarote. I wrote on the web site about it at the time and got similar replies.
You can only use the vouchers on the full brochure price.
Unfortunately I didnt find out until I had already got the vouchers (there is no mention on any of the web sites that I could see).
I ended up with the holiday which I could have got cheaper and spent the clubcard vouchers in Tesco and it would have worked out about the same.
I would see if you can change them back again. (Not sure whether they allow this)
It's a right con if you ask me.0 -
In November 2010 I exchanged Tesco vouchers for £2800 of Virgin holiday vouchers - it had taken us over 3 years shopping in Tesco between 3 of us to accumulate enough points to do this. Anyway, got the vouchers in the post a week or so later with a letter stating maximum use per person is £700 (4 x £700 - £2800) which is the amount I had budgeted for. Went to book last week and Virgin rep said maximum voucher amount allowed to use is now £525 per adult and around £317 per child (ahhhhhhhh nooooooo!) and had been since 5 December 2010.
I had no knowledge of this as there was no mention of the change in November on Clubcard website and the confirmation amount sent with the vouchers stated £700 pp. I was a bit taken aback to say the least! I have written to both Tesco and Virgin for their views on the situation - dont expect any charity from either as they are blaming each other when I spoke to them last week.
If the situation stands then the holiday will cost us £1100 more - so we wont make it and the whole lot will need to be credited back to my Clubcard account and I will have a very unhappy family!
Has this happened to anyone else?

Planetjanet, if you ordered the vouchers in November and had used them in November to book the allowance was £700pp so the info you were provided with was correct at that time.
The allowance changing to £525pp for Virgin at the beginning of December was in the T&Cs on the Tesco clubcard website for a good couple of months (at least) before the change took place.0 -

Thanks for that - I didnt see these. I thought that may be when they sent the vouchers to me the changes as they were imminent. I wish I had checked the T&C's more closely!Bargain Hunter Extraordinaire!!0 -

I checked the letter that came with my vouchers in November and it stated (as did yours) that the value allowed was £700pp - which was correct at that time. I was however, fully aware that this was changing in early December so I should think that Tesco and Virgin will only advise you that the information regarding the change was indeed published well in advance of the change in the T&C's.
Sadly I'm sure this is not the news you wanted to hear0 -
Just another thought for you planetjanet - have you actually priced up the holiday online or had an up to date quote over the telephone for the holiday you were planning?
The reason I ask is this: in the T&Cs it states that the vouchers can only be used against brochure price - quite often brochures are out of date as soon as they are printed.
Generally when using clubcard vouchers the price you pay is the online price plus the online discount (anywhere up to about 10%) added back on; the only discounts that are exempt are special offers, eg: £300 off this holiday for a while, etc.
Current pricing will reflect any cost savings you will make because, for example, any sale fares that an airline may have. We took advantage of a Malaysia Airlines sale in 2009 and as a consequence our fortnight in Bali (booked with Virgin using vouchers) was many hundreds of pounds cheaper than the latest printed or downloadable online brochure.
To prove that this wasn't a one off, I am currently in the process of booking again with Virgin using clubcard vouchers and the quotes I am getting are again several hundred pounds cheaper than the advertised brochure price.0
