Then I had a thought, what about trying to pick up second hand books as cheaply as possible i.e. car boots, gumtree etc and then trying to sell them on for a small profit? Would this be worth trying? Does anyone here do this with any degree of success?
It is probably worth a try! Since I sold some really good books at a bootsale for about 20p each cos I get fed up of people knocking me down and just let them go! Needless to say that was BEFORE me ebay obsession, so I try to ignore the fact that I probably would have got more :rotfl:

Soooo I'm here to ask a question. Has anyone seen my motivation? It seems to have disappeared. If anyone has it, please return it.
I am at a loss as to what to do! I've photographed and written descriptions for EVERYTHING, listed them on Livejournal already and waiting for a free eBay listing day - although I have listed a handful on eBay already with a 99p start price but don't want to list too much in case they don't get high bids. I've listed all my books, DVDs and CDs on Amazon and Play - I sold 2 DVDs today but after postage I'm little over £1 better off. I've listed around 50 items on my eBay business account Turbo Lister for when I can finally list more than 5 items. This really annoys me, it is a business account, I've got 100% feedback but because someone marked me low on the seller ratings I can only list 5 items! The items I sell are under £2 each and the sort of thing where I need to have over 100 listed to make anything, having just 5 listed is ridiculous. At least if I'd know I had a limit I could have listed my 5 top products, not just the 5 that came first alphabetically.
So I'm just feeling a bit stuck. I might list a couple more things on eBay but I've not got a lot more I can do.
Oh just as I'm typing this, I sell another DVD. Total is £154.04/£500I like to make money

I used to do this as a (very) small business and sold through Amazon. In my experience there was not a lot of profit to be made on novels & mass market books but there often is profit in more obscure out of print books & things like text books. The more you do it, the more you will get a feel of what is likely to sell. If you are selling on Amazon though be aware there is a standard rate for postage - heavy books can cost more than the buyer is charged so this will eat into your profit. Good Luck if you decide to give it a go...
£8.75 to add - Ebay payment for something I sold before Xmas.Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
