I have a MICO 311i which is based on Philips technology, just after it was a year old it has stated doing stange things like all the lights flashing, switching the TV over. Only fix is to turn it off at the wall. I can still get it to work, but its not very good.
  • Same experience, the film froze, my dvd got stuck, had loads of telephone calls to Philips to complain and it got sent back twice to be fixed and still didn't work! Personally I wouldn't buy Philips after my experience and we bought our DVD recorder for £600!

I am with the first response above. I have had one of these machines for just over a year and it has never worked correctly. Will record a programme and on playback will give up after 38 minutes every time, constantly freezes up and has to be turned off and on at the mains. I never use it now, it's so unreliable I have given up on it.

I have updated the software as advised on the Philips website and it has not helped.

Buy only if you want to spend £50 for a silver box to sit under the telly. Personally, I'd get a few more pounds together and buy something else.

A friend of mine too brought it from Sainsburys when it was at 99.99. But he got 2, sold one off on ebay for 150 approx and kept the other one

After 11 months when he was fed up with the problems, returned it to Sainsburys and it came up as 199.99 for refund. :-)

    hence overall, brilliant bargain!
