saving for 2011 advice

Hiya
really want to crack on with saving starting in january Im on commission basis but averaged out my wages for last twelve months and should have between £1000 and £2000 to save each month with the average being £1500 a month I have just set up a standing order for £300.00 to Premium bonds dont want to put anymore than that in them. But what else should I be looking at

It is updated regularly by Special saver2, there is a change to the accounts available from HSBC, which is now paying 5% instead of 4% previously, or 10% instead of 8% if you have the relevant current accounts.

If you know more than the average fund manager then share trading may be a good idea. But if you don't, then you may be better off putting most of the money you want to invest for the medium/long term into a unit trust or investment trust.0
