a low fat diet

i am taking xenical tablets that are supposed to help you lose 30% of the fat you consume straight away. i should be following a low fat diet with it. trouble is i cant find an easy to follow one that contains normal food and not lots of cooking involved as i am disabled and besides having limited mobility have to eat whatever family is eating with a few tweeks. cant expect husband to prepare completely different foods for me and then another menu for him and the kids. so something that i can work into the family menu would be cool. i have done a search on the net but they either want to rope you into an online slimming club or have weird named dishes that i know my husband wont have heard off. is there someone out there that could please post a weekly eating plan for a low fat diary please?

Sorry, I haven't got a proper plan but when I want to lose weight I just choose low-fat food instead of a diet plan because I immediately want something that's not allowed
Jacket spuds with beans or tuna, spag bol (making sure the fat is drained off the mince before adding it), lots of fruit and veg, cereals, sandwiches with wholemeal bread and no butter, lean meat.
Did the doc put you on the tablets? My friend used tablets like yours, if she ate ANY fat it would go straight through her, accompanied by agonising stomach crampsBulletproof0 -
Could you get a weightwatchers cook book, loads of amazon/ebay.
Ive got weightwatchers 123 Ive made quite a few things out of it and no one has noticed
Theres no reason why everyone couldnt use it really:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Your doctor or practise nurse should be able to give you a diet plan, as there are lots of medical conditions which mean you need to eat very low fat. I had gall stones 15 years ago, and got a good plan from my doctor though don't still have it. Also your local library is likely to have some low fat cookbooks. I think Rosemary Conley is particularly good as her recipies are accessible, tasty and don't use odd ingredients. They are also available for not much money second hand on Amazon. HTH0

Hi homealone
A friend of mine is taking these and gets a lot of support and recipe ideas from https://www.watch-that-fat.com - this is a self help forum for people taking xenical.
Hope this helps

Hi there, almost any recipe can be adapted to low fat.
Cut all visible fat from meat, remove any skin.
Do no add any fat when browning onions or vegetables. Just use a small amout of water or use a spray fat like Frylight.
When cooking mince, use lower fat variety and drain fat off with a colander before adding any veg. If you want to irradicate all the fat then also wash with boiling water from the kettle by tipping it over the mince in the colander.
Do not add any margarine, butter or low fat spread to sandwiches.
Do not have any creamy sauces such as mayo, salad cream or creme fraiche.
Do not have full fat cheese.
Do not have any meat products such as burgers or sausages - unless they are the very low fat ones.
Switch to quorn which is low fat instead of meat
Cut out all pastry and cakes
No chocolate or chocolate drinks
Change to skim milk
These things will make it possible to have what the family have as the extra fat is no good to them either.
You could try charity shops for low cal cookbooks they are often quite cheap as they get so many of them.
Good luck.

have printd out your recommendations and must admit that in itself makes sense. i guess i was hoping for something easy, but nothing easy about losing weight, its the night time thats the worst. wake with pain at least 4 times a night and while on way back from loo find it impossible not to stick something fattening in my mouth. if i could crack that i woul be half way there0
