Laptop or PC?

Options
Hi All,

My existing PC is coming to the end of its life and I am wondering if I should purchase a PC or Laptop next time? I generally use my computer for surfing online, watching YouTube clips and DVDs as well as doing some work with Microsoft packages and playing some computer games.

My question is this would a PC or Laptop suit my needs best?

Thanks

the differential in power nowadays is negligible/ laptops are on a par with desktops/ do you need the portability / different areas of the house/ fragility can be an issue too/ build quality/

  • If you play high-end games a laptop with a higher-end graphics card will be more expensive

It's 15years old and is running very slowly, I've been told to replace it.

I'd opt for a desktop anytime. My old computer was sooooooooo slow & opted to buy new HP 52031a from PC World (no groaning please) & it's been wonderful to use. Love windows 7 and can only sing the praises of HP.
  • A pc would have the advantage of being easily upgradeable and getting more for a lower cost. If your not too concerned about portabilty then the pc would be the right choice
  • or you could try putting linux on your existing system.
a desktop will always beat a lappie hands down in a straight fight £ for £ .

Avoid laptops unless you really need computing on the move.

Laptops overheat easily and parts are more expensive. Upgrading is also far easier with a PC.
