From this statement i am guessing that your accident was 3-4 years ago?
Do you realise that you onlu have 3 years from the accident date to lodge a claim against the other party?
As lisyloo correctly points out also , if you didnt visit a doctor or hospital at the time of the accident and present with injuries from the accident then how are you going to prove that you actually received injuries?
This is correct - it was more a of rattle out of pram reaction. I am sure the insurance companies were quaking in fear from my rant
Thanks for all the help - I have sucked it up and took it on the chin. It was my own fault for not renewing earlier, i had made the false assumption of normally seeing my prices go downwards rather then up.0 -

Hi foxyuk,
I just tried that - they said the underwriting department would not take calls directly so they got a manager on the line. She just parroted out the same stuff saying there had been a lot of personal accident claims over the past year which unfortunately meant 'everyone was having to pay for it'.
I am quite livid about this. I actually had an accident (not my fault, someone back ended me and so it was claimed through the other persons insurance company after them having accepting full responsibility) and the past 3 to 4 years my wife has been bombarded by Indian call centres asking if I wanted to claim for personal injury. I always declined as I like to be honest and had BT block them as they would not stop calling. I am thinking of reversing the tables and getting in contact with them now to make a claim.
Now the comparison sites are all quoting 700 odd. I thought insurance was meant to get cheaper?
Thanks
Luke
I think the IFB said personal injury claims only add something like £44 ish onto your premium... not £600 =/ Seems like a cop out excuse for their rates being so crap. Sadly Insurance isn't getting cheaper, insurers have been handing out cheap 'new customer discounts' to attract people and losing a lot of money. A lot of insurers have tipped the scale of for each pound they earn... they spend more than that and therefore aren't profiting.
Try some of the direct insurers too like Direct Line, Aviva etc. Try putting your excess up a bit and buying excess insurance (in the event that you have a claim, your able to recover it regardless of fault, usually on a sliding scale of £150, 350, 550 and 750. It dropped my renewal by a few hundred and only cost me about £50 to buy... worth a try! If you want some links inbox me as people get funny about putting them on posts)0
