Garage roof collapsed

Options
Hi, Part of my garage roof has collaspsed, I'm not sure when as we dont really use it. The roof is made from asbestos sheeting. If I want to claim for this on the house insurance what should I tell them? I'm thinking maybe it was the snow that caused it but my policy states no pay out due to frost?. If they ask me how it happened I cant tell them as I don't know. Also I dont want to put myself in any danger with substinence claims etc so will have to tell them something that will ensure they pay out. Any help?

Thanks.

so will have to tell them something that will ensure they pay out.

If the roof has collapsed due to negligence and poor maintenance then the insurance will not pay out, a quick inspection by an insurance investigator would soon confirm this.

If you are trying to get them to pay out by telling lies then that is fraud, not recommended.

I don't want to tell them lies but if I'm not sure how it happened what can I do? As far as maintenance, it's a pretty old roof, we have only lived in the house for a year.

If you think it's snow, tell them that - frost does not equal snow.

What sort of roof is it, how long ago was it put on the property (or renewed) and when was the last time it had any maintenance done on it?

The roof is made of asbestos sheeting. I would say its fairly old. We have only lived here a year so not sure about maintenance.
