Laptop Processors - Advice Needed

Hi,

I recently ordered a Sony laptop (VPCEE3Z0E/BQ for £595) which has a AMD Phenom II Triple-Core Processor P840 but after looking round it seems that it may not be the best purchase and am wondering if I would be better with a sony laptop with a Dual-core Intel® Core™ i3-370M processor (VPCEB3J0E/WI.CEK).

I will be using the laptop mainly for uni work and internet, not really into gaming.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It will be fine as long as it has enough memory.

Should be more than able to handle anything your course throws up then, good luck on the course and have a good new year.

Just to put these laptops into perspective - my laptop is over 4 years old, AMD Turion ML-34 Processor, 1GB RAM, 100GB disk running Windows XP and I still use the latest version of Firefox, Microsoft Office 2007, play Counter Strike and more. So any new laptop running Windows 7 with 2GB RAM or more will be fine I'm sure.

I'd consider the following laptop and save yourself £300

    http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy-LENOVO-G550-Laptop/697702

    Lenovo
    Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500
    3 GB RAM
    320 GB HDD
    Windows 7 Home Premium

Excellent make and more than capable for browsing the Internet, watching movies etc.
  • the i3 is a fairly poor processor.

Any laptop no in the about £400 camp is going to be pretty good, £600 seems a lot of money.

    I recommneded this earlier http://www.ebuyer.com/product/237739

So if you can cancel you could save yourself like 100 drinks in the local :-)
