Does this seem expensive for gas/central heating?
Options
Hello,
I live in a bungalow, there's two of us and we have a pay as you go Scottish Power gas card which we regularly top up. It's costing around £40 a week which seems to be very high. From that amount, £15 is deducted a week to pay off a debt we have.
Just wanted to check as it seems a lot.
Thanks in advance,
Julie

It's your consumption that matters, not your weekly cost. Without knowing your usage and lifestyle, no-one can tell you what you should be using. Presumably you also use gas for your DHW and cooking? What is your actual kWh usage?
But if your actual cost (for currentl usage) is only £25 a week in this weather, then that is really not expensive (£3.50 per day).
Sorry to state the obvious, but 37.5% of your expenditure is on servicing your debt, not on new consumption. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi Macman, thanks for that. Helped put it into perspective after you explained it's £3.50 a day. The gas heats the water and is used for cooking also.
Thank you!

Due to the cold weather that seems to be quite good, besides the 15 pounds you also have to deduct the rental of the meter, I am not sure how much they charge for that.0
