    ie 6J cable , induction boxes, simface, earth guard, REBO .
    in that case I may be mistaken but I would assume either you or the spark is of european persuasion,
    I didnt pay heed before as I use these phrases or similar myself often.
  • we live in chester was given his number by someone who knew he had done work for their shop. He only worked in the week and he took the job on on monday but didnt start till the thurs did thurs and fri then didnt come back 4 a week and did thurs dont know about vat but he wants paying in as much cash as poss. Dont know what 2 do about payment?

    if you dont like his prices, after the job is done is the wrong time.

    It would have been better to agree a price in advance but as that didn't happen at least you are entitled to know what you're paying for. As he wants cash I'm guessing no VAT (or tax!) and for that reason his day rate at £376 is pretty steep. I think that this and the price of the rcbos is the only thing you can challenge him on. You need to speak to him though! Did you find out if you'll get installation and part P certificates? This is VITAL. Did you do as I suggested and check out if he was on https://www.competentperson.co.uk?

    You could offer to pay him a part of the cost and then get more info on the rest before handing over any more. How did your friend find his work?

    We paid £1300 for the following

    3 fire rated spot lights
    1 new cooker circut wired back to new consumer unit
    1 new fridge frezzer circut wired back to consumer unit
    dedicated kitchen circut wired back to consumer unit
    dedicated lighting circut wired back to consumer unit
    pelmet lighting switched with main lighting switch.
    spur for dish washer
    spur for washing machine
    spur for garden security light which can be switched on and off
    circut for garden wired back to consumer unit.
    2 double sockets
    1 cooker switch with socket
    spur for cooker hood.

    London area.
