Citrreon Garages
Options
My car was taken in garage as it was misfiring. I am told that it requires a new coil and new extension lead. Cost of £210.18.
I also asked to have my car serviced (40000 miles) and as it a big service it will cost £315.96
They also told me that 2 front tyres need replacing. £38.00 each
Total £602.14 (including everything)
My months wage gone.
Sorry Citreon spelling wrong at the top - unable to change it.

BTW it's Citroen!!
It's easy to change the coil and the HT leads yourself!! Would save you a bit on labour. Although they need to do the service if you want to keep the service book up to date!0 -
I dont think citroen are any worse, price wise ,than most other main dealers, its just a shame all this work wants doing at the same time!!
citroen service intervals are quite good these days, with two years/20k miles being the norm.Taken in this context and as an example, £180 for a service on a c2 is not too bad.The 40k service is very comprehensive and that is why yours is so expensive.
Being "old school" i can remember havin an MG that needed servicing every three months or 3k miles:eek: that was expensive!!There are two sides to every story.

The coil shouldn't cost anything like what you've been quoted, I needed one for my Berlingo this year and an independant did it for about £90 as an emergency. We would have done the job ourselves if it hadn't given up on the motorway and had to be towed to a garage.
Citroen dealers like other main dealers are a bunch of thieves and you can still keep your full service history/ warranty if you use an independant who uses original parts.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -
Little update: I had my car serviced yesterday and when i was awaiting in a reception area i heard an assisstant on the phone to another 2 customers saying that their car's 2 front tyres are worn out and that they need replacing.
Thats exactly what they told me on the phone. Although i was not aware that the tyres were worn out I just went along with what they said and asked them to replace it.
I am now wondering whether it was necessary to replace them or they are saying this all of their customers regardless tyres require replacing or not.0 -

Now there's a good thread to start.............. What Independant service dealers are in your area:beer:"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
Wow that all sounds very expensive to me. More expensive than what Alfa would charge me if I took it them!
I would personally have got all the mechanical work done by a trusted local mechanic and the tyres at a small independent. (My local tyre fitter is a massive reseller and fits tyres at only a couple of pound profit to maintain their buying power - sure there is one in each city around the UK!)0 -

typical main dealers, only interested in making money, change parts that don’t need changing and morals do not come into it. That’s why i stay well away form these rip of merchants. did you check your tyres before they changed them? they should have a minimum of 1.6mm acrooss 3/4 of the tyre thread.0 -

Remember with a main dealers you are paying for the nice showroom & all the smoked glass. I use a Citroen/Peugeot specialist for my Peugeot & they are a lot cheaper.
To give you an idea, I recently had the full service & cambelt changed for £370 inc VAT, main stealer wanted £300 just to do the cambelt. A friend of mine had her Picasso serviced with the specialist, £90 + VAT, Citroen £240.0 -
My friend replaced 3 windscreen wipers for her citreon saxo few weeks ago by herself. Last Friday she took her car for service and guess what?
They citreon dealer replaced her 3 windscreen wipers again, saying that blades were in bad condition.
My friend showed them the receipt saying that those wipers were only three weeks old, demanded to put back on and refused to pay.
They decided not to charge her.0
