I'm doubting that you read the three blog posts, as they clearly point out that the prize value quoted in phone calls is greater than the value of the cheapest package that includes accommodation. You say "prize was clearly", the ASA say "prize wasn't clear enough". No offence, but I'll take their decision over yours.

Thanks, I had seen the blog and the ASA comments you quoted which were about as useful as the one that makes it necessary for packets of nuts to contain a warning stating that they contain nuts--this prize only contains what it says, tickets and nothing else, no cars, cash or accomodation..

What is not clear in the competition details below, not other comps that were run with the same prize or phone calls etc, just the details below?

The SFX weekender is at Pontins Holiday Park Camber Sands 4th-5th February 2011. We’ve 30 sets of day tickets to give away

no mention of any other prize elements.

The mass prizes were clearly an attempt to fill the place but this comp made no mention of accomodation being provided and you do not have to book accomodation to claim your tickets.

If you use MSE you should already be checking for the cheapest/best deals on everything so if their accomodation offer was not the best you would not take it anyway.

Read my blog again, you'll see that you're quoting the wrong competition to me. The one I entered didn't even use the term "day tickets". Quoting the same line a second time "just to be clear" only works if you're quoting a line that's actually relevant.

It is relevant because it is from the competition that this thread is about, your blog and the ASA comments are not.

I've won four day tickets too, but I can't find 3 more geeks to go so will probably have to give it a miss. I've ignored their calls re. the hard sell of the accomodation so far, what are they offering? An apartment for "4" (yeah right! lol) for £120 for 3 days?
I assume you can use the other facilities in Pontins whilst you are there i. pool, but will there be anything else on other than the Sci fi weekender?

The accommodation is £240 for 4, and it's only Friday and Saturday night. You can only use the facilities if you're staying there and there is nothing else on because SFX have hired the entire place - so the facilities might not all be in use either. Also, you have to vacate your accommodation by midday on the Sunday or face being charged extra - not that they advertise that.
