LG washing machine

I have a LG washing machine that I purchased from Currys just over 2 years ago. Within a couple of weeks of the 2 yr warranty running out the machine started getting a Water leakage error where the base gets flodded with water and will not function until the water is drained.
Can anyone tell me what my rights are with regards to getting the machine repaired or replaced for from Currys? I know that the Sales of Goods act can cover items in certain circumstances for 6 years in the UK but wondered if washing machines were covered by this legislation?
Many thanks

Yes, all goods purchased in the UK fall under this legislation.
Given the time frames associated with your purchase the responsibility is upon you to prove that the fault was inherent (at 6 months the responsibility changes from the retailer to the purchasor).
To do this you would need to produce an independent report confirming such (the costs of which should be reimbursed if the goods are found to be inherently faulty).
Have you tried talking to Currys first? it may save you some effort (although don't hold your breath, judging from others experience of them on this board).
Good luck.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
If you bought it using a credit card and Currys are no help then talk to the credit card co as they are jointly liable. (Section 75 consumer credit act.)
You may have to pay to get it fixed then claim part of that cost from the supplier. For example cost to repair is £200, shop will should pay say, 4/6ths because you have had two years use and would expect it to last 6 so would refund £133.0 -

Do not go ahead and get the item repaired without the written confirmation from the retailer that they will reimburse you because chances are they won't and they certainly won't if you do not give them the opportunity to rectify the issue themselves.
I find it quite unlikely they would give a partial refund on the cost of repair, I think you are getting confused with the partial refund of the purchase price of the item given its age (which is one of the remedies available).Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Thanks guys for your quick replies, I will try curry's and see what they have to say. Not holding out much hope as I have seen some of the posts people have made about them
I'll give you an update on what they say!
