Hi
Have an EM desktop, c5 years old, no problems to date.
Go to switch on today, nothing happening.
On the rear of the base unit there is a flashing green light below where the power lead goes in.
Opening up the unit there is another small green flashing light/very slight clicking noise on/being made by the motherboard (this light is below what seems to say 'CR3J1').
Any ideas what this would indicate (their customer support is closed today and really need to get sorted - tempted to buy another desktop but I have a lot of photos/files on here I would like to recover so would rather attempt to fix myself).
Many thanks

Hi, same happened to my Emachines earlier this year and it was a quick fix to get a replacement PSU - try maplins or similar shop.0

Thanks splot, was it much of a pain to replace yourself?0

Maplin are a lot overpriced - try a local pc shop 1st.0

You might like to look at the thread I started here yesterday asking for help with my pc that stopped working yesterday. There are lots of useful suggestions from posters that might help you too. Good luck!“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0

E-Machines had issues with their PSUs from models of that era. A PSU is easy to replace and they're cheap to buy. You've no need to buy a high powered one - a 350-400W should suffice. If you want to take it to a shop, they should charge a minimal amount as its a 10 minute job.0

Thanks all for the input. Bought a new PSU today and installed (very easy job) - working fine thankfully!!

where did you get your PSU from please?“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0

OP, you are lucky, because a lot of the E-Machines PSU failures at that time also took out the motherboard when they blew.No free lunch, and no free laptop
