PAYPAL help needed!!! Please!

I've just sold an item on ebay to a guy from the US. He has transfered his funds but I do not have it and will not receive it till I post the item and he informs Paypal of my tracking number.

Even though the guy is from the USA, he wants me to post, yes, you guessed, to NIGERIA.

Paypal (and the emails look genuine?? ), have sent me an email saying the funds have been approved by them and I should post within 24 hours?? They are holding it and will only give it to me once I have posted the item, the guy has received the tracking number and he has sent the tracking number to paypal. Is this a new thing - has anyone else experianced this ??

I've replied saying I can't post straight away without proper confirmation. Can someone please help and is there any phone contact I can use to get in touch with them???

It's a SCAM! Don't deal with this guy further. Don't even think about sending the goods out.

It's the classic Nigerian ebay scam.

  • So, what do I tell Paypal??

I don't want to lose out on Ebay fees either?

Ignore paypal. It's not a genuine email from paypal, it's a fake. He has NOT paid. Check your paypal account - there will be no sign of any payment from him.

As soon as you can, file a non paying bidder claim. (When you escalate it, you will get your fees back)

Also, report the buyer for false contact details. They always are false. That should get him kicked off ebay.

  • The buyer registered yesterday just as my item was about to end - how conveniant.

They have said they have the funds (paypal) and before in the past when I have dodgy paypal fakes a message appears at the top telling me so. But this email doesn't . . ?.

    Ok, some facts:

Paypal never send out emails like this.
Ebay will never tell you to send an item before receiving payment, and nor will paypal.
    Emails are easily faked.
If the money aint in the account... it doesn't exist.

Either you have received a clever fake, or for some reason your security software hasn't picked it up.

If in doubt, check your account. (What a shame that doesn't rhyme)

  • Definitely a fake, it's happened to me a few times when selling mobile phones. It always seem to be Nigeria which is involved!
  • Email received from paypal - it's a fake!

Thanks for all your help! These emails are getting to look more genuine by the day . .

I'm afraid it was a pretty obvious fake. If it looked real to you, I suggest strongly reading here:
