I went to fuerte last year and cant wait to go back. My kids are all under 7 but i think teenagers would still appreciate what it has to offer - i know i did. Theres the world famous zoo which is amazing have a look at the website http://www.fuerteventuraoasispark.com/
and also the diving school down on the beach in caleta with all sorts of watersports.
the weather you cant fault i think they have like 3 inches of rain in a 12 month period and lowest temp in a year is 22 c.
whether you stay in fuerte or lanzarote you can ferry between the 2 as they are quite close i think its 40 minutes. Fuerte also has a waterpark.
I have heard loads of good things about tenerife but as someone above touched upon it has been westernised. All the canaries have a lot of british ex pats but i think fuerte holds onto its culture brilliantly.Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
If the weather is a factor then Fuerteventura and Lanzarote tend to be windier. The south of Tenerife - Los Christianos and Las Americas are sunnier than the north.
The time-share issue in Tenerife now seems to be sorted certainly in Christianos and Americas. Americas has undergone quite a lot of improvements and clean up of late and the walk along the seafront between the two is lovely plus a great choice of restuarants and bars. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are cheaper in my opinion for eating out.
Flight options tend to be better for Tenerife and Gran Canaria - Good luck in your choice - I'm jealous, don't think I'll be going back for a few years :-(MBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

To be fair... we can all advise you on our favoruite places - but without knowing exactly what YOU want out of a holiday... then it's difficult to point an answer to you hon.
What kind of things do you and the kids like to do whilst away? Are you sun worshippers? Fans of water parks? Evening revellers? Sightseers?
I live in Lanzarote, but have visited other islands too.

I think I would look at affordable hotels in all of the canaries to see which ones are geared up for teenagers entertainment because if your 13 year olds have things to do it will give the adults a relaxing break! Fuerteventura is quite quiet(ish) compared to the others in my opinion but in the right hotel it could be amazing. Likewise for Lanzerote. Some hotels are more geared for younger kids so check them out on tripadvisor before booking, for impartial reviews. This is really important if you stay somewhere like Playa de las Americas in Tenerife as you'll get a good feel from the reviews about wether the hotel is patronised by predominantly families or 18-30's... good luck where ever you choose! I wish I was going!0

We're just back from a fortnight in Tenerife, we stayed in the Costa Adeje area, to be more specific for you, the Hotel Isabel.
Really liked it, really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, our 12 yo wanted to go to kids club there, she enjoyed it though most of the kids were German, Dutch or Spanish the first week.
There was entertainment on in the hotel every night, and the bar restaurants down the front had things on too.
not sure if it's a bit quiet for teenagers, they might want something a bit livelier. They have electric scooters ( toy shaped scooters, not mopeds) for hire, and four wheel pedal carts, and all the usual beach related sports.
I'm hoping we can go back there next year - no lager louts, mostly families and couples, felt nice and safe though there are the ubiquitous looky looky people who try to sell you shades even though you have some already - they don't pester badly though, just call out as you walk past.
we really enjoyed Siam Park, DD preferred it to Blizzard Beach in Disney Orlando - though that could be because the queues were small at Christmastime, whereas in Orlando it was very busy. Siam Park would be my worst nightmare if going in peak season summertime though.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I know this tread is a bit old but I'm in the same boat and dont know what island to chose.
First we are going in the summer holidays, would this be too warm?
We are 2 adults and a 14 and 17 year old teenage girls, we would like a nice all inclusive hotel with a nice pool and beach and something to see at the island as well. Not into clubbing and tonnes of screaming kids...a bit more upmarket place. Nice walks with some beach bars....that sort of things.....any ideas?0
