Returning US iPod in UK

I'm currently visiting my family in America for Christmas and someone gave me an iPod as a gift. Since I already have an iPod, I'm looking to return it. If I were to bring it to an Apple Store in the UK unopened, would they give me a refund? Since it is a gift, I do not have a receipt or anything.

No I don't think they will and you shouldn't expect them to without a receipt.
Just put it on Ebay or trade it in at Cash converters or CEX.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £17,496.340 -
No they will not. They are very good at repairing / helping you with them but they will not refund especially without a receipt.

Why would you expect a store you didn't buy the item from should refund you money you didnt give them?
Not only immoral, but bordering on illegal.====0 -
Plus, with Apple goods often being cheaper in USD, and the possibly/probably avoided duty and VAT on import, you could really open up a can of trouble for yourself!0

also, what is the voltage of the adapters? They will not refund it, but there are plenty of people who will buy one I am sure.Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 20160

Just ebay it but list it as being a US model0

The voltage is fine, the problem is that the US iPod comes with a US plug (obviously) or more accurately a connector that snaps into the power adaptor. Can you buy the UK version of the snap-in thing? Of course not, you have to buy the whole adaptor at £29.99.
So off to eBay for a £1.99 USB wall socket charger and you are all set ...

no ipod model even comes with a mains charger, they only come with a usb sync cable of which all the usb ports in the world are standardised so there is no issue there.0

Sell it or give it as a gift at some point.0

There seems to be a bit of self-righteousness going on here...
1. (As noted), iPods don't come with a mains adapter, so there is no issue there.
2. Apple is a global corporation, and the profits all feed back to Apple HQ. There is no defrauding.
3. Since the item was a gift, then allegations of avoiding import duty and all that don't apply.
However, I do doubt that Apple UK will refund.0
