Do You Know A Charity That wants 275 Mini Fridges?

Hi All

Does anyone know of any Charities/Community groups
that may be interested in 275 mini fridges ( see below post).
The hotel is in Westminster .
I've tried posting them on Freecycle groups but
I'm having a problem finding charities that can take all of these
items.I can find individuals but the hotel is very keen for them
to go to a charity/community group.
If you know of any charities/community/not for profit groups
that would be interested and could collect the first batch on December 29th from Westminster then i would really appreciate it if you could let me
know.

Thanks Everyone
Regards

Hi
I am posting this on behalf of a hotel who have 275 mini fridges they
would like to offer to a charity, community group/organisation etc.
As the hotel is closing down they are looking for the charity/group to take all of them ( or as many as you can take),so if you just want a few they wouldn't be able to offer these to you.

Roughly 167 will be available for collection on December 29th and the remainder will need to be collected after 4th January
If you are interested and able to collect on December 29th
(wednesday)please get in touch.

Many Thanks

Regards

  • Hi
I don't know if they would be interested but there's a charity/group who deal in large scale random acts of kindness and I think they are London based. I can't post links but they are called The Kindness Offensive
  • what about the salvation army/ independent charity shops in the area/ local churches (who could pass them onto people in need). The problems going to be that most won't start back until the 28th as its the first official working day due to the next 2 days being bank holidays, but i'm sure there must be someone needing them.
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

    Hi Stormy-weathers

What a fantastic thing for your hotel to do! If everyone who had surplus items did this the world would truly be a better place. Thanks so much for taking the time to try and sort this!

Things that you could try are...

    1) Contacting your local refuge here these could be used for the individual rooms or for the families when they move out. They would REALLY appreciate them I'm sure
    2) Try your local churches, if they don't want them they might know someone who does!
    3) Go through a list of charities like on this site and ring round, if they don't want them ask who will
    4) Mini fridges do seem to sell on ebay (search for them and tick the completed listings box to have a look) you can easily sell them for charity online
    5) Your local charity shops like Oxfam (find your nearest store bottom left corner here_. It's a myth that they can't take electrics, some stores can't but many will. If they're not sure make sure they know that they sell on ebay

The main thing that I'll say is that if one organisation turns you down then try others because you can never be sure of whoever answers the phone. For example if you ring a refuge and they say they have no use try ringing the main charity refuge here and ask them. Having worked in offices I know that sometimes people have to cover another person's work for a day so answer the phone and just guess - if at first you don't succeed just try again!

yup, InKind Direct are an excellent suggestion. although I don't know if the need to get electrics checked would be a problem.

  • Hi All

I just want to thank everyone for all their sugguestions.
I really appreciate all the help you have given me.
The hotel is very keen that the mini fridges go to a charity
but as a few of you have mentioned the time factor will be an issue.
We are in touch with one or two charities that say they will be able
to collect them on 31st December so the hotel is hoping that we will be able to offer them to one of them.

    Many Thanks Everyone

  • Thank-you for your kind words. The group you listed looks really
interesting but they need items to be delivered to them ( in most
cases) so this wouldn't work out for the hotel, but i haven't heard
of them before and really appreciate you telling me about them
    ( for possible future use)

    Many Thanks
